China has begun plans to get rid of export tax rebates on all zinc that is over 99.995% pure. Sources from the Non-ferrous Metals Industry Association were cited for this information.
The export tax rebate for this type of zinc is currently sitting at around 5%.
Getting rid of the current export tax rebate will be subject to the state council’s approval before it will take effect.
A newspaper reported that the head of CNMIA’s plumbum and zinc department stated that he expected that amount of zinc being utilized by China to rise by at least 10% during this year.
