European Union New Charter Deal, Leading To National Divisions
 Posted on Jun-24-2007

In a new charter in the European Union a deal has paved the way for national division, dominating the bloc.

Angela Merkel, she is a German Chancellor leads a marathon talk with the EU leaders, in an early Saturday morning making a pact for each countries with an extent for concessions.

The threatening of a veto by Poland is the main problem to an agreement. UK and France also remained stubborn to several key points; water-down the effort in deepening the EU integration.

Regardless of the concessions, the leaders are optimistic in the bleary-eyed news discussions adopting the deal. For the new charter, this will be improved in the coming months, thus replacing a law that have been rejected by French and Dutch voters for the last 2 years, this cast the European Union to uncertainty.

According to Nicholas Sarkozy, he is the French President “A Europe that had come to a standstill has begun to move again," joining the German Chancellor and the Prime Minister of UK for the last minute negotiations with Poland.

The key problems of the European Union would be the increase in size, the group has already 27 member countries which is 15 in 2004, altering the bureaucracy and making their decisions more complicated. The incorporation in several Balkan states and in Turkey had spurred worry in losing jobs in the high paying European Union states.

In the new charter there will be a simplified European Union’s voting system in order for an additional expansion easier. In other aspects of the free market is to enshrine the protection for workers and strip out the reference that deals aim to appease the critics.

The President of Poland has counter threats in cutting down the
the plans of the European Union to streamline the process in decision making it to diminish its influence.. He counter act that they will cut down the EU subsidy or exclude themselves in the treaty talks in reference to the aggression of German to the World War 11. They eventually agreed to the new voting system thus the voting in their country will be on 2017.

France had their concerns. Poland’s President had committed to push a strike to “free and undistorted competition" in a passage about the priority of EU. UK’s Prime Minister and the other leaders had fight the move, but then agreed when they were assured this change will not undermine the free market policy.

In a statement the President of Poland wants change for their “domestic consumption.” He is elected as president just the previous month in a conservative platform, has take hold of a country that was wary of free market and unfettered capitalism. There were violent protests for the flexible contracts for the young workers last year in a plan by the government. But it was junked.

In a news conference the president stated that “Perhaps (the changed charter) will give a little more humanity to Europe," and "Competition is a means, not a goal in itself."

There were several objections in the charter, such as the plan in a single European Union foreign policy chief, coordination in policy’s and adding legal protections for a worker.

The president of UK is due to step down next week and negotiated to a weaker foreign policy and exemptions in the policy and social policy rules.

As told by the President of UK in the conference “Things that we in the U.K. required in order to protect our position have all been obtained."
